The Memory A gripping psychological thriller with a heartstopping twist eBook Lucy Dawson

Psychological thriller, heart stopping?!! LOL!! Would love to read a book like that again! I've been an avid reader of mystery, drama, thrillers for most of my 62 years and am stunned at the 4 and 5 star reviews of most of the books i've read in the last 5 years. They're "ok" at best. In the past, once I started a book, I would finish, even if I didn't particularly like. Not anymore. Too many awful books out there these days. How are they getting published?!!! I don't know the last time I read a really good book, one that one reviewer referred as "unputdownable". Well, this one sure was for me, or "falldownable" cause I kept falling asleep.

The Memory A gripping psychological thriller with a heartstopping twist eBook Lucy Dawson Reviews

This novel is indeed gripping but also twisty. I was kept guessing until the very end. Told in two points-of-view, two women who’s lives overlap, confront secrets, past loves, the terror of trying to protect their children and hints of the supernatural. I really enjoyed this and would have finished much quicker if life didn’t get in the way of reading!
The Memory was not what I was hoping it would be. The characters were predictable and so was the storyline. I really couldn't wait for it to be over with about halfway through the reading. I finished it hoping it would eventually get better and it really didn't. The author, Lucy Dawson stated that she makes her stories up as she is writing. Maybe a little more planning would be beneficial. I just didn't enjoy this book as a "gripping psychological thriller!" Linda Medley
This was a very good book. This was my first book by this author. The characters played a good part in the book. Kept my interest the whole through.
I was glued to the turning pages, anxiously waiting for the final truth to emerge. And when it did, I was in complete shock. Awe, even. I'm not sure I blinked, all I could do was stare.
The book kept my interest pretty well but it was a bit underwhelming. I didn't get a good sense of the setting, Fox Cottage. Tim was not very likeable and came across as a weak person. Some things were not plausible, such as Claire doing Adam's laundry in the middle of trying to get out of the spooky, unsafe house. Isobel was just too out there - we should have been given more of a glimpse into her kind side.
This is a great story with lots of my favorite elements - psychological puzzles, deep secrets and even some ghostly things. So well written I couldn't put it down. I'm going to the kindle store now to see what else Lucy Dawson has written.
This novel was very interesting and enjoyable. The plot was well crafted and moved forward naturally. The characters were realistic and sympathetic. I’ve not read any novel by Ms. Dawson, but plan on reading more of these. I’m now reading her novel called “The Daughter”.
I’d categorize “The Memory” as being part suspense, part psychological drama with a ghost story included.
Terrific read!
