Meghan and Collin have entered into a new realm after fighting scratchers to help jae their gypsy friend return to his magical people.. During the battle the friends father is injured and as the twins are trying to push his lifeless body through the portal the are forced to watch an unexpected and horrifying battle erupts between the scratchers and their beloved uncle Aaron.

Being new to the group of gypsies the children must go through a council trial immediately to see if they can stay or if they will be banished of course they are allowed to stay. They are made to attend magic school where Collin excelled and Meghan struggles. The queen or leader has taken an instant liking to Meghan because of her fire abilities are of those rare form of the queens. But however she dislikes Collin though he is the only one to notice as of yet since she is careful and cunning to cover her tracks.
More twist and turns more plots. Collins still being bullied even in this new magical world, Meghan is still unsure of herself has to prove herself or reach for approval from the queen who is up to something but Collin can't figure it out. What's going with jae and the visions Meghan sees of him. They are moving again what will the new home hold?

Once in a while, I will choose to read books listed as children's books, providing they are fantasy. Buying Awaken, written by Rachel Humphrey-D'Aigle caught my attention. Reading Awaken was so much fun and very magical, I quickly bought the whole series. The books have to be read in order to make sense, but as quickly as I finish one I have to immediately start the next one in the series. I think these books would please readers of all ages.

The stories follow two orphans, twins Meghan and Colin, as they navigate through worlds filled with magical characters, ghosts and the coming of age with their own magical abilities. Fast moving, they're sure to keep you entertained.
The twins have a bond that keeps them linked to each other. They keep being reminded to not let that connection break but what is the reason for the warning?

As Meghan and Colin learn more about their magic and the world that they have found themselves in, they are finding that there are more things to fear. They need to trust each other now more than ever. This book takes you deeper into the saga giving you more details and more unanswered questions.

All the books end with a cliffhanger. There are 7 books in the series but all of them are available for purchase.
Awesome second book! I liked the first but Definitely LOVED the second! I thoroughly enjoy the banter between the twins as well as the personalities from the other secondary characters... I was not going to get this book right away since I wasn't totally hooked from the first and would have put it down in my notes as "future series to continue one day"- along with the many other series in which the 1st books were free but I was not enthralled with either... HOWEVER- the second book was FREE as well and so of course I was totally in! And for that I am glad- I think that was a very forward, smart thinking move on the authors part because now I am DEFINITELY buying the rest of the series... phew sorry for rambling but in parting I will say bravo Rachel D`agile and I hope this series becomes huge! Keep em` coming!
This is a series and you must read Awaken (Book One) (Fated Saga, Contemporary Fantasy Series) first or this book will make no sense )

I really liked the magical world this was set in. Everything flowed well from the first book to this one almost as if it was one book not a sequel ) The new characters were believable and (for the most part) endearing... except the evil ones. I think the introduction of new villains was really good because it would't make much sense for there not to be more as they get more deeply entrenched in the magical world.

New allies new enemies and new adventures ) I can not wait to read the next installment!!!

Awesome series. This book picked up right where one left off, which you must read or this will make no sense. The only person Meghan and Colin know on this world is Jae, their gypsy friend. They are staying with his family, and the community is starting to accept them. If you lije books about magic, ghosts, mysteries and lots of action, then this is the series to read.
I really liked this book! it flowed nicely from book 1. you could read it without having read book 1 . you'd only be lost for just a bit then you'd eventually understand as the author does a great job of explaining as she goes. the book is a good read for young teens to adults. it's approximately 300 pages in length, written well, great story line, and edited well. editing is sooo important!!
this is a story about two young twins, a boy and girl, who are thrust into a magical world with a clan of magical gypsies that travel to try to stay clear of evil that hunts them.the twins are thrust into this world when they help save the life of Jae's dad. he's their new friend. at the same time they watch as some evil creature attacked their uncle just before the magical doorway closed. theiy have no idea whether he's alive or dead. in the gypsy world of "grimble" , they meet a ghostly relative. he tries to help the twins especially when they find they have magical powers. Collin has strong magic and an old magical book that talks and has a personality. bad people want this book and will stop at nothing to get it. his sister is a fire witch (a seer), who has a familiar or in this case called a "catawitch". it's a cat and her name is Nora. she keeps getting visions about people being hurt and something or someone is trying to hurt the gypsies. Will the twins be able to help the gypsies? will they both survive that help?
